THE PROBLEM AT UDS NYANKPALA CAMPUS EXAMS CENTERS.

Is barely a day to the start of end of first trimester exams of 2016/2017 academic year on all the four campus of UDS not excluding Nyankpala campus. So we set out to see how ready are the facilities at the exams centers such as the seats that will be use for the exams, the toilet and urinal facilities. Other areas of concern are whether the will be a condusive environment to write the exams that’s are the fans working properly. Are they all working well considering the heat the current weather is producing. So we set off and our first point of call was the great hall of the school. We moved around the hall to check the stature of the seats and per what we saw, we can confirm to the general students body that, most people will be sitting on bare metals to write the exams because most of the seats have no wooden labs on them leaving only the hard metal parts. Some of the seats too are very weak and keep swinging from left to right making too much noise with the slightest touch on them. We also try to put on the fans to see if they are working properly but majority are simply not turning and the few that are turning also produces noise that will be unbearable for someone trying to cogitate in an exams hall. There are no better place for students to ease themselves if the need arises. All the Louvre blades also look very dirty like those in public toilets. There are spider webs all over the hall. We didn’t limit our findings to only the great hall but we also moved to the premier hall ( the auditorium) . The story there is far worse than that of the one in the great hall. Here both the seats and the table wooden labs are either permanently removed or in a very weak state. In some instances, a student will have to put the table wooden lab back and hold it with one of his hand whiles he write his or her paper with the other hand. There are also indications that, in case the seat provided are not up to the number of students, they will add plastic chairs too. The air conditions and the fans are also not functioning properly. We spoke to some students concerning the situation at hand and most of them seeks to put the blame entirely on the shoulders of the SRC leaders. One of them lamented ” the SRC only know how to draw budgets for programs and not how to seek the welfare of the students ” another proclaimed that he has lost hope in the SRC because is their duty to make sure student get what is due them from the school management.  .                                              Reported by Bawa Abubakari ( SnrBawa) Scc level 300 Contact 0549636293

THE MANNESEH AZURI ENCOUNTER

.

The Bongo boy _ Manasseh Azuri Awuni in my view is second to Anass Aremeyaw Anass in this country in the facet of investigative journalism. They both are journalists who use different method and principles in achieving the results of their work though it all transcends in the ethnics of journalism work. Unlike Manasseh, few people within and outside the country know Anass by face because of his style of investigation. I have strong desire to meet these two fine gentlemen one day But eventually gave up on the quest of meeting Anass since he is not publicly available to be seen ( undercover). But on the other hand, the Bongo boy is always available to be seen and interact to at his convenience . This kept me going and never gave up on seeing him. Likely for me and any other student in UDS_ Nyankpala campus , the Communication Students Association of Ghana ( COMSAG)_ UDS branch organised a program inviting Manasseh as the guest speaker who was to lecture on ” the tool box of an investigative journalist in combating corruption. “He was scheduled to arrived at 11:00 AM. But his flight delayed and he touched down at the campus around 2:00 PM. I was the third person to give him a handshake after our head of department and another senior lecturer at the department outside the auditorium. I shake him with a broad smile on my face and his face as well. I don’t know why he was smiling broadly like that. But for me, it was a dream come true that i finaly met him. We both smile endless to each other without saying any word to one another. Then finally I gave my phone to a friend standing by to take us some historic pictures which he did. All these while we were still grinning . I took several pictures with him. Many of the students who saw me taking pictures with the guest speaker who appear to be very simply and down to earth rushed in to also do same. Some of them were denied the opportunity to also stand and take pictures with him because, time was fast spent. So the ushers came and led him into the auditorium. He began his lecture by telling students who were listening with rapt attention how he went through a lot as a child but never gave up. His father was a poor night watch man whose salary was not enough to provide for his basic needs like mat to sleep in SHS untill when he was in form two. He further told the gathering how he investigated the numerous corruption scandals in this country including the one president Mahama accepted Ford gift from a burkinabe constructor, how RLG was used to spent tax payers money and a whole lot of other stories which earned him award as the best Journalists in 2011. According to him, the toolbox of an investigative journalists must contain : courage, intelligence, intergrity passion and others. The president of the association Mr. Dabi_Arkoh Joseph used the opportunity to launched certains things done by his administration thus association jersey, football, online application for the association ( COMSAG_UDS app) which is now on google play store. There was also a presentation by Mr.Abboh Michael. He is the team leader of the peer to peer challenging extremism UDS, an inter global university competition that seek to help counter violent messaging and narratives from extremists.

The campaign will deploy social media platforms, tactics and events to send interesting but educative messages to counter extremism. Currently they uses social media pages such as whatsapp, facebook, twitter, youtube and instagram to reach both students and the general public. Mr. Abboh Micheal entreat the students to get involve in the campaign against extremism by joining the #VOICE FOR CHANGE. The guest speaker also promised to help champion the compaign at the national level to help reach much audience. After the program, there was a massive rushed by students to take picture with Manasseh. He spents about one hour taking the pictures. So I can confidently say 70% of COMSAG members had opportunity to take  picture with him. And that was the first time i met Manasseh.

*10 INDICATORS FOR POSITION IN NYC.*
Every individual undergo a kind of changes at different stages of his or her life especially when the need arise to accomplish a mission.

Once the purpose has been pull off, these changes becomes a new way of life for the follow. However, most of these changes are short-lived as the follow devoid them due to his devoirs.
It is of this reason, the writer having stayed in NYC for three years copiously share this article with the general public on noticeable behavioral changes he calls INDICATORS in aspirant in the GAME of STUDENT POLITICS.
These are the 10 _INDICATORS_ in the ASPIRANT-GUYS.
*RESIGNITION*

This is the first among all the INDICATORS. Guys declares their resignation from small offices/positions when they actually want to play in the game of student politics. Although a Class Rep in NYC is a potential aspirant in the game but a Resigned Class Rep which resignation is no due to misconduct/incompetency is 100% potential aspirant.
*DRESSING*

Another INDICATOR but most recognised one of course. There is a sudden sharp change in the dressing of the fellow. The new dressing code is Britain wear tucked in especially to lectures. Wearing of shorts to lectures eventually becomes thing of the past whilst wearing of jean trousers becomes very rare.
*GREETINGS* and *HANDSHAKE*

It may sound funny, but one of the surest way to avoid them taking off time from your schedule is; whenever a Guy meets you one on one greets you and offer handshake alongside, just say please what post do you intend vying for so as to cut their long story short or else 5 mins of your time is gone.
*NEATNESS*

Not that they *weren’t* neat at first, but this time they look more presentable. One _Apor_, have you observed how often the cut or shape their hair?
*GENEROSITY*

These Guys portray their generosity not only by paying for your food or offering you a lift but their readiness to give you much of their time at the expense of their daily schedules. They also honour almost all invitations, even if you don’t invite them they will invite themselves. But the nature of some of this invitations is another story demanding.
*EVENT SHOW UP*

They are seen in almost all event held on the four corners of campus being it educative, religious or entertainment. Well you may have some doubts as there may be people you crush with in all event but for different reasons. Yes, but the thin line is for them they will make you recognised their presence.
*CHANGE IN CLASS*

Merriam Webster defines CLASS as high social rank or rating based on quality. It may seem weird when i tell you about this INDICATOR, but have you taken time to find out the canteens they used to eat and they hostel they used to live?

Make your own appraisal.
*BOISTEROUS/ROWDY COMPANIES*

Have you seen how they draw close to ruffians, or hey- hey guys. Such people are charismatic and can lure fans for them. If you are still not convinced wait for campaign times.
*TALKATIVE*

The reason behind i have still not got it. But examine this, since when did they started intruding in your conversation or private matters and asking you how you feeling. They never ask how are you and end it there, prepared to offer numerous responds.
*POLITICAL IDENTITY

Revealing their political identity is an INDICATOR and most times the last of it all. It may be hidden from the onset but when things becomes tough especially at zero hour they have no choice.
Well, not all the above INDICATORS may be seen in all ASPIRANT but for the HIGHEST OFFICES is ASSURED.

YET TO BE SRC ASPIRANTS

*THE BALL IS ROLLING*                                    The 2017/2018 political season, is promising to be the most competitive electioneering year ever to grace the land of UDS_Nyankpala campus. It may interest you to know that the envious central seat of UDS will safely be brought back from Wa campus to Nyankpala campus in 2017/2018 academic year. Individual who have fully declared their intentions to be candidates in the forseen contested elections and by no mean persons. They are of good standing and highly respected within and outside the confines of the university. Snrbawa.wordPress.com can confirm on authority that four persons have so far pop up with their intention to clinch the ultimate position whiles too are still undecided.                                                           One of them is a well respected personality in terms of his performance in entertainment industry both in the school and across the country. His name has already become a household name on campus. He perform on several national entertainment programs in the country and has been in the media for a couple of times. He single handedly MCed last year central SRC jams that saw Samini perform to the delight of students for the whole night.ladies like to play with him due to his jovial and romantic attitudes towards them. He is the CEO of *KONNECT AFRIQUE*. He is also currently working assiduously to put the campus on the mark with his campus TV series ( Chapters). This individual is no other person than *Big Cedis*.                                                                                      Another aspirant who has also done marvellously well when it comes to legal issues on campus is also in the race. Many people perceived him to be a professional trained lawyer because his indept knowledge on legal matters is comparable to none among his colleagues .His name is a household name as well considering the role he play during the biggest legal battle between the formal SRC president and then NUGS treasurer ( Abonginga vrs SRC). His outstanding performance in that legal battle has also projected him among the students. Even thogh There were report of intimidation by authorities of the school to persuade a removal of the case from court to get it settle at home. He only succumb to their demand when he was promised a fair judgement at back home if the case is remove from court. He is well known as *Ramadan*.                                                            Third candidate who has been a leader among his class mates since his admission in to this school till date is also in the race. Rumour has it that, he has perform well as a leader of his class and most of his mates are happy about his leadership style and will like to see him clinching the highest position in the students politics. He has also been a general course rept for the current level 300 in the school. He is very Humble towards everyone in the school and also like to see fairness in the leadership of the school. During the regime of Paul Gyan, he led the call to boycott SRC election until the then level 100 diary which was promised by SRC were given to them and that was really done. So some students outside his department still remember him about that service rendered to them. His name is *Amoah Kojo Ebenezer*.                             The forth candidate this site have notice is another individual in the department of communication innovation and technology. He has ever tried his luck on one of the enviable position in his department association, but lost marginally to his opponent. He has been seen several times debating seriously on issues table for discussion at COMSAG Senate meetings. He always try to argue for the best for the members of the association. He always talk with much confidence in him wherever he find himself. His communication skills is also much on point and can be use at any level to seek for the best for the students should he be given the chance to lead. He is also well known as *Issahaku Haruna* There are several others who have not come to our notice. The battle for the SRC presidency has the potency of producing about six candidates next academic year. Stay logged up here and follow, as we bring to table exciting events that will unfold in the build up to the central seat capture in 2017/2018 academic year students politics. #The writer is SnrBawa SCC level 300 .
